I know from first hand experience that when baby gets too fussy and too stimulated to fall asleep - even though she's exhausted! - sometimes the only way to calm her is to tuck her into a ring sling, put on some rhythmic music and dance until cries give way to sweet, soft breathing and closed eyelids. Sit for a while and enjoy the peaceful warmth of your sleeping baby, for these moments in your life won't last long. Then, if you need to set baby down, a ring sling allows you to transfer baby to a safe sleeping place and simply slide your own body out of the sling. Tuck the sling around like a swaddling blanket, making sure no loose flowing fabric is near baby's face.
